Newborn photography for Peterborough families
Forty minutes south on the A1 and the A14, then down the old Roman road to a quiet studio with a parking space at the door.
From Peterborough, my studio in Papworth Everard is about forty minutes: south on the A1, onto the A14 at Brampton, off at Godmanchester, and straight down Ermine Street, the old Roman road. From Hampton, Yaxley and the south of the city it is a little less.
It is a longer drive than some, so this page is honest about what is at the other end of it.

What is at the other end
A studio that exists for newborns — the work I have done since 2010. It is kept warm for your baby. You park outside, and inside there is a sofa for you and a separate playroom where older brothers and sisters can play while they are not in the photographs.
The session belongs to your baby. We stop when they need feeding or holding, and carry on when they are ready; nothing about the morning depends on your baby doing anything in particular. My style is simple and timeless — your baby, their hands and feet and lashes, and you with them — without props competing for attention.
When to come
Most Peterborough babies are born at Peterborough City Hospital. Newborn photographs are best in the early weeks at home. Book on your due date after the twenty-week scan; when the baby arrives, email me the date of birth and we set the real day around it. Later is fine too: a baby of five or six weeks gives open eyes and expressions of their own.
For a forty-minute journey, two hours in the studio is the sensible minimum, which means the Classic Newborn Collection or the Total Newborn Collection — the second one with a heART Fusion film of the morning. A shorter hour, the Mini Newborn Collection, is there too. What each includes is on the newborn prices page.
Outdoor photographs near Peterborough
For family and maternity sessions, I would suggest staying near home rather than driving twice.
Ferry Meadows, in Nene Park. Lakes, meadows, woodland and the river, with wide paths for pushchairs and plenty of space. In autumn the trees along the water are some of the best colour around.
Burghley, twenty minutes north at Stamford. The deer park around the house, with old trees and long views: the most beautiful setting within reach of Peterborough for a maternity session.
The Cathedral precincts. For a short session with the west front behind you — one of the grandest in England.
Both Burghley and the Cathedral need to agree to a professional session in advance. I ask them; you only need to choose the evening.
Questions from Peterborough
Can you come to us in Peterborough?
Yes — a home session works well for newborns and babies. Travel is charged on top, and you will know the amount before you book.
Do you photograph older babies and first birthdays?
Yes: baby sessions around six months and a year, and a cake smash for the first birthday.
We want grandparents in the photographs too. Is there room?
Yes. The Classic Newborn Collection includes the whole family, and the studio has space for three generations at once.
